This is the Royal Navy submarine HMS/M L.27 (Pennant N 27) commissioned in 1926. The sub spent the first year of World War II on operational patrols mainly in the Bay of Biscay and she was then relegated to training. In 1943/1944 she was sent to Canada for to be used in anti-submarine warfare training. In 1946, she was sunk as a target.
