USS TRIPOLI was the fifth IWO JIMA - class amphibious assault ship (helicopter). Decommissioned and stricken from the Navy list on September 15, 1995, TRIPOLI is since then laid up at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, Ca.
