USN AIRSHIP USS LOS ANGELES ZR-3 - OVER NEW YORK CITY - BLIMP
The United States Navy rigid airship ZR-3 "Los Angeles" was built by the German Zeppelin Company in 1924 and originally designated LZ-126 (meaning it was the 126th ship designed by the Luftschiffbau Zeppelin). The LZ-126/ZR-3 was flown from Germany to the United States in 81 hours between October 12, 1924 and October 15, 1924, under the command of German Zeppelin pioneer Dr. Hugo Eckener. The Los Angeles was retired from service in 1932 after a successful and distinguished career.
